Danica Tomić
Danica Tomić was the first woman pilot in Yugoslavia. She was married to the Commander of the 6th Airborne Regiment, Major Miodrag Tomić. With her husband’s support, she passed the pilot exam in 1928, and in August 1933 she also passed the tourist pilot exam, thus becoming the first woman in Yugoslavia with a pilot licence. “The records of the commission indicate that Danica was the best in her class. She flew the plane safely and cold-bloodedly. She was the first woman to perform a loop manoeuvre in the air.”
